Acer is suing its ex-CEO

The former chief started working with the competition sooner than he was allowed to.

Taiwanese PC manufacturer Acer has announced that it’s initiating legal action against its former Chief Executive and President, Gianfranco Lanci. Acer believes that its former Chief Executive breached the non-compete clause in his contract when he left the company in 2011.

Apparently Lanci promised not to compete with his former colleagues for a year, but started working for Lenoo before that period was over. He is currently the head of Lenovo’s Europe, Middle East and Africa division.

Lanci’s goal was to make Acer into a $30 bn. company, however his critics accused him of “de-Taiwanizing” the company. The company briefly states that “Acer has initiated legal action in Italian courts and looks forward to presenting its case.”
